Anglin, George Carver

George Carver Anglin was born 16 Feb 1818 in Dickson Co, Tn , s/o John Anglin (1757 VA – 1836 TN) and Elizabeth Carver (1782 NC – 1882 TN) He met and married, about 1835, Nancy Lucinda Spears (02 Jan, 1819 VA – 30 Nov 1885 Weddington Washington Co, AR, d/o John Spears 1785 VA-1858 Il and Ann Graves 1792 VA- 1850 TN) They had the following children:

  1. Andrew Jackson Anglin (1835-1880) who married Nancy Tidwell
  2. John Washington Anglin (1837-1892) who married Sophronia Tidwell
  3. Louisa Elisa Anglin (b 1839) who married W G L Buttery
  4. Artamiza Jane Anglin (1840–1913) who married James Henry Hudson
  5. Lucinda E Anglin (1841-1892) who married John Anderson Hudson
  6. Martin Van Buren Anglin (1843-1927) who married Margaret ‘Peggy’ Tidwell
  7. Melinda Adeline Anglin (1845-1887) who married Newton Jackson Luther
  8. Julia Ann Anglin (1846-1939) who married George Washington Lankford
  9. Thomas John Anglin (b 1848) who married Amanda Bradford
  10. James K Anglin (1851-1929) who married Lizzy Alley

George was a Justice of the Peace, a farmer and a blacksmith in Dickson Co., Tennessee. He attended the Turnbull Primitive Baptist Church. The entire family came to Northwest Arkansas between 1860 and 1870 according to census records.

George Carver Anglin died 06 Feb 1904 in Weddington, Washington Co, AR. He was laid to rest in the Weddington Cemetery beside his wife and many of his descendants.
